Warning

  • If you have high levels of calcium in the body caused by cancer (cancer-related hypercalcemia), the use of gallium nitrate with other drugs that affect kidneys (for example, gentamicin, tobramycin, amphotericin B) can lead to severe kidney problems.
  • If one of these other medications must be used, gallium nitrate must be stopped.
  • Fluids (hydration) should be given for several days after the other drug has been stopped.
  • Notify your doctor immediately if you have increased urination at night, weakness, confusion, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, or unpleasant taste.
