Usage Instructions

- Give this medication by vein (IV) over approximately 30 minutes in a saline (NS) or dextrose (D5W) solution as directed by your doctor.
- The dosage and schedule is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
- Drink plenty of water when using this medication.
- Do not mix this medication solution with any other IV fluids or medications.

- This medication should be given 24 to 48 hours before the start of your cancer chemotherapy treatment.

- Allopurinol is used to treat high levels of uric acid in your body.
- Uric acid can cause gout.
- This injection is usually given to people with cancer a day or two before receiving chemotherapy.
- Chemotherapy kills cancer cells and these dead cells can cause very high levels of uric acid in your body (tumor lysis syndrome).
Aloprim Storage Instructions
- Store unmixed/powder vials at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C).
- After mixing and further dilution with IV fluids, this product is stable for 10 hours at room temperature.
- Do not refrigerate the mixed vial or diluted solution.
- Discard any unused portion of the vial.
