Mesnex Storage Instructions
- After preparation, this medication is stable for 24 hours at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C).

Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Possible Side Effects
- Headache, injection site reactions, flushing, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bad taste in mouth, loss of appetite, drowsiness, or coughing may occur.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
- Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur.
Medicinal Applications
- Mesna is used along with ifosfamide or cyclophosphamide (anticancer medications) to protect against a bladder condition called hemorrhagic cystitis.
Mesnex Miscellaneous Notes
- This medication does not prevent all side effects of ifosfamide.
- It is useful only in protecting against hemorrhagic cystitis; however, it is not effective in all patients.

Usage Instructions
- This medication is administered by injection into a vein by a health care professional.
- It must be given along with each ifosfamide dose and at 4 and 8 hours after each ifosfamide dose.
- Drink at least a quart (4 cups) of liquid each day while taking this medication, unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
