Warning

  • This medication can cause severe blood disorders (for example, bone marrow suppression, including hemolytic anemia, and especially thrombocytopenia and leukopenia).
  • A syndrome known as Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (a combination of anemia, decreased platelet count, and nonreversible kidney failure) has occurred.
  • Blood transfusions may make the symptoms of this syndrome worse.
  • Notify your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of an infection (such as persistent sore throat or fever), fatigue, easy bleeding or bruising, dark urine, or change in amount of urine.
