Virazole Miscellaneous Notes
- Your breathing will be closely monitored while taking this medication.
Warning
- Check devices that assist breathing (ventilators) for accumulation of ribavirin particles (precipitate).
- These particles may interfere with ventilator function and proper breathing.
- Sudden loss of breathing ability has occurred when this drug was started.
- If this occurs, stop treatment.
- If ribavirin is restarted, do so with extreme caution and monitor breathing closely.
- Other medications (bronchodilators) may need to be used to help with proper breathing.
- Ribavirin is not FDA-approved for adult use.
